Slipstream for Georgia

Team Slipstream powered by Chipotle has released their final roster         for the upcoming Tour de Georgia on April 16-22. The team will feature         a roster of climbing and time trial specialists: Danny Pate, Tom Peterson,         Jason Donald, Pat McCarty, Lucas Euser, Timmy Duggan, Mike Lange, and         Craig Lewis.

According to director Jonathan Vaughters, "The team will be working for         Tom Peterson as far as the GC is concerned. He's been producing around         400 watts at his 30min max power, so that should have him climbing with         the leaders. It's a big step up from where he was at California. Of course         we'll also be hoping for a stage win from either Jason Donald or Pat McCarty         - and I imagine Lucas (Euser) will try to snag the Mountains jersey again."

I lived in the town next to Tom and rode with him and his brother once in a while. His is very skinny I guess 130 lbs. So if he is out there throwing this wattage down he is really maturing as a racer - THANKS TO POWERTAP. Not sure who coaches him still. When I lived in Seattle his coach was some guy I never heard of...

Good luck to the argyle armada...

Watts in U - The Medical Study

This student from Denmark is calling out to all your wattage training atheletes. He is trying to compile the laregst database of wattage training for a true calculation of hours trained versus wattage values. Pretty good insight although we may already know: the more you train with power the more effecient you become. Either way I encourage all of us to share so we can see the results.

Hincapie ToC Numbers

2007stage3profileI talked with the Hincapie Mafia the other day about George at Tour of California. His wattage numbers for the stage 3 climb --- were 450 Watts for 30 minutes.

Now this is estimated since he was not riding with a power meter but Basso was and Basso is only a kg or two lighter then Big George. So next time you wonder what it takes to keep up with the big name, stars. Climb at 450 and you'll probably either blow up or get a contract.

New Pro

Powertappro Saris has a new upgrade to the Pro system. It has received the same carbon fiber shell that SL and Wireless have used. It is heavier then the SL and uses a different bearing system. I like the fact that the system now comes in the 20H/24/28/32 combos the wireless and SL offer. So you could have a training wheel and a race wheel. Not sure if the new hubs price is lower enough for a training wheel to be reasonable now. It is also only SHIMANO hub bodies so I guess you can not exchange like you can with an SL system.
